It all started with a horse, but got named after a dog? Let me explain, and I’m SO glad you’re here.

I have been in love with horses for as long as I can remember. We lived in Tennessee for a time growing up, and I LOVED going for Sunday drives past all the farms, dreaming of the day I would have one of my own. Elementary schoo me couldn’t imagine that her whole career would revolve around horses one day, and I hope I never forget how lucky I am to live this life.

I played around with what to name this lil endeavor for what felt like years. I started taking photos as a business in 2018, and I initially named it after myself, first going by Taylor Breeding Photography, but that didn’t stick. A large reason for why I do photography and marketing is because I love horses, obviously, but I love the ability to edit at home with my pup laying in her bed by my desk or bring her along on the adventure from time to time.

Copper is a five year old border collie, and she’s been my sidekick since the day I brought her home. She came with me to photograph our first branding when she was just eight weeks old, and in the years since then, she has come to countless horse shows where I was either working, photographing or showing, and it clicked. I love businesses that have names that stick out to you, so wanting to use a play on Copper’s name felt right.

When looking at translations, copper is commonly associated with “enduring strength”, and dog is associated with “all heart.” To ride horses, or even to be in the equestrian industry, you have to be all heart. You have to have the strength to endure the tough times, you have to keep looking forward.
